Letter to the Editor
Dear editor,
When Richard Nixon’s Watergate scandal was exposed in 1972 along with his duplicity in it, I remember watching the news mesmerized as to how it all came about and how the man who held the highest office in the land could be a participant in it! The investigative journalism done by Bernstein and Woodward was has been described as “maybe the single greatest reporting effort of all time.” Nixon was exposed for the deceitful individual he was and that exposure led to impeachment, brought down his presidency and tarnished his legacy forever.
Now Joe Biden is running for the presidency of the United States and the proof is on the table that his influence peddling, as vice president under Barack Obama, influenced several foreign deals that led to huge payouts to his brother, son and himself. In the past the slightest sign of impropriety (ie: Gary Hart) would have led to the demise of a presidential candidate and now something so egregious as influence peddling, kickbacks and money laundering to mention a few, doesn’t even see the light of day on any of the major networks or newspapers! Where are the Bernstein’s and Woodward’s of this decade? Has the cancel culture eviscerated every investigative journalist from seeking the truth because it goes against the current liberal narrative? Shame on all who call themselves journalists if they are afraid to chase the truth or report fairly on both sides of a story.
Several years ago when Donald Trump started saying “fake news” I figured it was just more talk from a man who liked to hear his own voice. Now, watching mesmerized again, as this US presidential election unfolds I am absolutely disgusted with the way the media shows such bias to the left and refuses to report the truth especially, regarding the man seeking the most important office in the world when he is exposed as a crook! Trump is right, most media outlets these days report only fake news or the news they want the masses to hear. We are smarter than you think, fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. I doubt this will get printed as it exposes all news outlets and their ilk as the irresponsible, gutless lot they are.
