Over 90% Of Mass Shootings Since 2009 Happened In Gun Free Zones

by AWR Hawkins On October 9, the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC) released a revised report showing that 92% of mass public shootings between January 2009 and July 2014 took place in gun-free zones. The CPRC report was released in response to an Everytown for Gun Safety study claiming only 14% of mass public shootings took place in gun-free zones. Everytown actually claimed 86% of such incidents occurred in places where guns were allowed. Vermont: Universal Background Checks Defeated for 4th Consecutive Year

by AWR Hawkins On May 12, Vermont lawmakers rejected initiatives designed to put universal background checks in place for law-abiding citizens in the state. This was the fourth consecutive year that universal background checks have been rejected in Vermont. VermontWatchdog.org quoted Gun Owners of Vermont’s Bob DePino, who explained that universal checks were pushed but defeated in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. NH Senate Concurs with House: No Concealed Permit Required

by AWR Hawkins On Thursday, the New Hampshire Senate concurred with the House and passed legislation to eliminate the requirement for a license to carry concealed in the Granite State. The legislation — HB 582 — would simply treat concealed carry like open carry, which is already legal to do without a permit in New Hampshire. In short, HB 582 removes the requirement that citizens pay the state for a concealed permit before exercising their Second Amendment rights.
